This Goodyear-welted and handcrafted plain Derby surprises in our special collection both with its polished calfskin leather and also with its world-famous Rendenbach leather outsole. While the supple, glossy upper leather also features an attractive shading effect, an intricate paisley pattern accentuates the renowned premium leather sole. The decorative ornamentation, with its distinctive teardrop and leaf shaping, adds a playful aesthetic to the extraordinary wearing properties of the Rendenbach sole.
In contrast to the classic basic cut of the shaft, our model forgoes the traditional Derby arc. Instead, the side seams run along the attached quarters almost straight to the base of the shoe: yet another example of a design combination that is unrivaled in its sophistication.
Thanks to the elaborate Goodyear-welted design, popularly known as the supreme discipline of shoe making, this elegant, full-leather shoe is extremely breathable, flexible, durable, and easy to repair when needed.
Plain Derby
The favourite men’s shoe in Europe. Smooth and undecorated, the black plain Derby is a comfortable all-rounder. With the traditional open five-hole lacing this formal men’s shoe is the ideal companion for almost any occasion.
Classic Last
The standard British last form. Subtly and elegantly narrows at the front of the shoe, without sharply rising from the ground. The average width at the ball of the foot provides a great fit for average feet.
Polished Calfskin Leather
The upper part of the shoe is made from the finest, smooth calfskin leather. It owes its lustrous surface to an elaborate procedure in which it is polished to a high gloss, which also gives it fascinating tonal nuances. The elegant calfskin is further characterized by its delicate grain and exceptional refinement.
Rendenbach Sole
For the past 140 years, the traditional Rendenbach tannery has used oak bark tanning to produce leather soles—the process can take up to nine months. The resulting soles are prized worldwide for their durability and water repellency.

Goodyear-Welted
The gold standard when it comes to shoe manufacturing. Goodyear welting is a painstaking process that involves stitching the shaft and outsole to a thin strip of leather. Shoes made this way are extremely stable, durable, breathable, and easy to repair.
Handcrafted
Mass-produced shoes are glued together on assembly lines. All of our premium, full-leather shoes, on the other hand, are handcrafted to the finest standards of quality. You can see and feel the difference.
Full-Leather Shoes
The high quality of these shoes is reflected in their high leather content. Their uppers, lining, insoles, and outsoles are made from the finest leather. They even have leather heels, made by painstakingly stacking thin layers of leather on top of one another.
Construction
These shoes consist of roughly 65 separate parts. They took about 210 steps to assemble. We rely upon premium materials and traditional production methods to ensure that our footwear is of the absolute highest quality.
Gentleman's Corner
These shoes come equipped with a so-called "gentleman's corner". This is a small notch cut from the inside corner of the heel. This has a practical purpose—it prevents your trouser leg from catching on your shoe.
Breathable
This shoe boasts a high proportion of leather, and has been assembled without the use of adhesive bonding—both of these factors ensure proper air circulation and prevent moisture from penetrating the surface. Dry, well-ventilated feet are healthy feet.
