Details about Number 200

No. 200 is a black women’s Chelsea boot—better known among shoe lovers as a »Beatle boot«. These ankle boots feature signature elastic inserts on either side of the shoe in addition to a pull tab sewn onto the heel; these characteristics distinguish Chelsea boots from other types of ankle boots. Originally designed as a classic type of men’s shoe, the versatile Chelsea boot has long enjoyed favour among women as well.

Chelsea Boot – simple elegance and understated British style

This classic British shoe was originally designed by Joseph Sparkes Hall, a shoemaker commissioned by Queen Victoria to make »elastic-sided half-boots« in 1830. These shoes were later named for the London neighbourhood of Chelsea. The now-common ‘Chelsea boot’ appellation did not catch on until the 1960s, when this part of the city attracted actors, painters and artists of all stripes. Although classic Chelsea boot design has remained virtually unchanged until this day, the Beatles did make a narrower take on the boot a cult classic.

Like its famous predecessors, No. 200 does not feature any sort of decoration, lacing or closure. Delicate double stitching along as well as a vertical shaft seam running beneath the elastic inserts add a stylish touch to the smooth black calfskin. The semi-round toe is roomy yet shapely, while the flat heel rounds out the Chelsea boot’s classic design.

Goodyear welting guarantees quality

No. 200 is made using the traditional Goodyear welting production method, and the upper is made of the finest French calf. The lining and insole are made of vegetable-tanned cowhide. Goodyear welting ensures that these women’s shoes are extremely long-lasting, comfortable, and easy to repair. As with all of the models in our Goodyear-welted women’s shoe collection, No. 200 features a Rendenbach sole and heel. These aren’t your average Chelsea boots.

Generally speaking Chelsea boots are classic men’s shoes—thanks to its feminine, elegant last form, No. 200 is a versatile women’s shoe. These black women’s Chelsea boots pair just as well with casual leisure clothing as they do with modern business attire. They’re a great match for jeans as well as dresses, skirts and blazers.

Ankle Boot

Ankle Boot

Boots with a short shaft that only extends three to five centimetres above the ankle. These boots are sturdier than their classic low-rise counterparts. Ankle boots offer greater protection for feet during inclement weather conditions.

Elegant Last

Elegant Last

Gently rounded towards the toe, with a toe box that rises slightly from the ground. This last lies close to the foot at the instep, and is of an average width at the middle. Significantly narrower than the classic last, the elegant last is recommended for average and low insteps.

French Calf

French Calf

This shoe’s upper boasts premium, medium-soft calfskin. The technical term for this type of leather is ‘French calf.’ This type of leather is known for its flexibility, fine texture, and soft grain.

Rendenbach Sole

Rendenbach Sole

For the past 140 years, Rendenbach has used oak bark tanning to produce leather soles—the process can take up to nine months. These soles are renowned for their extreme durability and natural water repellency. Women’s shoes with Rendenbach soles are a real novelty.

General information about our women's shoe collection

Goodyear-Welted

Goodyear-Welted

The gold standard when it comes to shoe manufacturing. Goodyear welting is a painstaking process that involves stitching the shaft and outsole to a thin strip of leather. Shoes made this way are extremely stable, durable, breathable, and easy to repair.

Handcrafted

Handcrafted

Mass-produced shoes are glued together on assembly lines. All of our premium, full-leather shoes, on the other hand, are handcrafted to the finest standards of quality. You can see and feel the difference.

Full-Leather Shoes

Full-Leather Shoes

The high quality of these shoes is reflected in their high leather content. Their uppers, lining, insoles, and outsoles are made from the finest leather. They even have leather heels, made by painstakingly stacking thin layers of leather on top of one another.

Construction

Construction

These shoes consist of roughly 65 separate parts. They took about 210 steps to assemble. We rely upon premium materials and traditional production methods to ensure that our footwear is of the absolute highest quality.

Gentleman's Corner

Gentleman's Corner

These shoes come equipped with a so-called "gentleman's corner". This is a small notch cut from the inside corner of the heel. This has a practical purpose—it prevents your trouser leg from catching on your shoe.

Breathable

Breathable

This shoe boasts a high proportion of leather, and has been assembled without the use of adhesive bonding—both of these factors ensure proper air circulation and prevent moisture from penetrating the surface. Dry, well-ventilated feet are healthy feet.

Delivery Content

Of course, our focus is on your new pair of shoes. But to underline our passion for our products, we enclose a few extras in your shipment. We hope that sparks your excitement about your new footwear.

Goodyear-welted shoes last far longer than mass-produced models. A dedicated cleaning and care routine is an indispensable part of keeping your shoes in mint condition. An introductory guide to shoe care is included with your order.

The values we live by

Lots of brands are quick to conceal the production methods behind their products, as well as the origins of the materials they use. We, on the other hand, have nothing to hide. From the very beginning, our products have been »Made in the EU«, in the classic sense. As such, we treat both our fellow man and the natural environment in a way that’s ecologically sustainable and ethically responsible. Each step on our supply chain is entirely transparent for you to see—that’s a promise we’re happy to stand by.

Values
EU

Made in EU

While most of our peers in the shoe industry are still unable to guarantee shoes that are »made in the EU«, we’re able to prove that our shoes are just that. We use leather from France and Germany, manufacture our shoes in Spain, and run distribution and logistics in Germany—our shoes are 100% made in Europe.

Environmentally sustainable

Environmentally sustainable

For many companies, all that matters are the profits; they fail to take notice of the disastrous conditions under which hides are taken in Bangladesh, or shoes are manufactured in China. We turn instead to traditional European tanneries and Spanish craftsmanship, to the benefit of man and nature alike.

Pricing

Pricing

Our promise: since you’re purchasing directly from the manufacturer, you’re spared the typical high margins. You’re also spared the additional cost of paying for a brand name. Thanks to our advantageous wide reach and our low cost structure, we’re able to offer sensationally low prices.

Transparency

Transparency

From the provenance and treatment of the leather we use, to the conditions in our Spanish factory, to delivery with our logistics partner, we don’t leave any stone unturned. We provide copious, transparent information on every step in our supply chain.
