N° 5252 details

A Wholecut represents nothing less than the full potential of the shoemaking craft. In our Spanish factory, master shoemakers craft these men’s shoes from a single piece of leather, forgoing any type of decorative stitching. It clearly hearkens back to classic design with the use of closed five-eyelet lacing.

Decoration for the Wholecut – Rosette and patina

We did not just dip the famous Wholecut in graceful nut-brown dye – although the primarily vegetable tanning process used to create soft calf leather allows for particularly intense colours. We also gave this shoe an elaborate hand finish. This process guarantees the fascinating patina of these Goodyear-welted, full-grain leather shoes, which is evident from the very first day.

Traditionally, the Wholecut has a subtle seam along the edges of the shaft pieces, as well as two fine heel seams. Unlike its purist model, the nut-brown Wholecut from our Patina Line includes a detailed rosette on the toe cap. When paired with the colouring of the hand finish, the otherwise ascetic Wholecut preserves a certain degree of dynamism.

No. 5252’s nonchalance destines it for modern business outfits, but it is also suitable for sophisticated leisurewear.

Wholecut

Wholecut

The shoe’s upper is crafted in a painstaking process from a single piece of leather, closed by seaming at the back. The nut-brown Wholecut with characteristic closed five-eyelet lacing is the purest expression of the Oxford style.

French Last

French Last

Our French last features a two-centimetre toe vault, narrowly tapered front, and comfortably wide mid-foot area. Lively and modern in design, this kind of last is perfect for average-width and narrow feet.

Soft Calf

Soft Calf

Our soft calf leather is a predominantly vegetable-tanned, fully dyed leather upper from Italy whose open porosity makes the colours of subsequently applied dyes really pop. An elaborate hand finish makes this soft calf leather even more exquisite. One-of-a-kind in our collection.

Finish

Hand Finish

The soft calf leather is dyed in the Italian tannery, but it is the intense leatherwork done by hand in the factory, called a hand finish, that creates the thrilling contrasts and shadows that give this soft calf leather its unique look.

General information about our formal shoe collection

Goodyear-Welted

Goodyear-Welted

The gold standard when it comes to shoe manufacturing. Goodyear welting is a painstaking process that involves stitching the shaft and outsole to a thin strip of leather. Shoes made this way are extremely stable, durable, breathable, and easy to repair.

Handcrafted

Handcrafted

Mass-produced shoes are glued together on assembly lines. All of our premium, full-leather shoes, on the other hand, are handcrafted to the finest standards of quality. You can see and feel the difference.

Full-Leather Shoes

Full-Leather Shoes

The high quality of these shoes is reflected in their high leather content. Their uppers, lining, insoles, and outsoles are made from the finest leather. They even have leather heels, made by painstakingly stacking thin layers of leather on top of one another.

Construction

Construction

These shoes consist of roughly 65 separate parts. They took about 210 steps to assemble. We rely upon premium materials and traditional production methods to ensure that our footwear is of the absolute highest quality.

Gentleman's Corner

Gentleman's Corner

These shoes come equipped with a so-called "gentleman's corner". This is a small notch cut from the inside corner of the heel. This has a practical purpose—it prevents your trouser leg from catching on your shoe.

Breathable

Breathable

This shoe boasts a high proportion of leather, and has been assembled without the use of adhesive bonding—both of these factors ensure proper air circulation and prevent moisture from penetrating the surface. Dry, well-ventilated feet are healthy feet.

Delivery Content

Of course, our focus is on your new pair of shoes. But to underline our passion for our products, we enclose a few extras in your shipment. We hope that sparks your excitement about your new footwear.

Delivery
Shoebox

Shoebox

Our passion for our products is reflected in their packaging. All of our shoes come in an elegant black shoebox emblazoned with the SHOEPASSION.com logo. Said shoebox is easy to open, thanks to a special opening on the side, and comes with a note on our philosophy.

Shoe Bag

Shoe Bag

These shoes come stored inside two shoe bags, packed into a shoebox. Shoe bags are a great way to maintain their condition—they protect your footwear from soiling and scratching. They also let you transport your shoes in style.

Shoe Care Guide

Shoe Care Guide

Goodyear-welted shoes last far longer than mass-produced models. A dedicated cleaning and care routine is an indispensable part of keeping your shoes in mint condition. An introductory guide to shoe care is included with your order.

SHOEPASSION - ONE STEP FURTHER

Made in EU

While most of our peers in the shoe industry are still unable to guarantee shoes that are »made in the EU«, we’re able to prove that our shoes are just that. We use leather from France and Germany, manufacture our shoes in Spain, and run distribution and logistics in Germany—our shoes are 100% made in Europe.

Environmentally sustainable

For many companies, all that matters are the profits; they fail to take notice of the disastrous conditions under which hides are taken in Bangladesh, or shoes are manufactured in China. We turn instead to traditional European tanneries and Spanish craftsmanship, to the benefit of man and nature alike.

Pricing

Our promise: since you’re purchasing directly from the manufacturer, you’re spared the typical high margins. You’re also spared the additional cost of paying for a brand name. Thanks to our advantageous wide reach and our low cost structure, we’re able to offer sensationally low prices.

Transparency

From the provenance and treatment of the leather we use, to the conditions in our Spanish factory, to delivery with our logistics partner, we don’t leave any stone unturned. We provide copious, transparent information on every step in our supply chain.

Our team

SHOEPASSION.com was founded by a pair of shoe lovers, and each and every employee focuses on satisfying our shoe-loving customers. Whether it’s graphic design, sales, marketing, editorial, or customer service, we handle all aspects of our business internally, ensuring our total control over all processes. We’re also owner-managed.

Your feedback

Your opinion is important to us; that’s how we define our business. If you’d like to express your satisfaction with our products and services, let us know. You can read reviews from other customers as well as experts in the shoe industry on the SHOEPASSION.com site. Your satisfaction is our top priority!

The values we live by

Lots of brands are quick to conceal the production methods behind their products, as well as the origins of the materials they use. We, on the other hand, have nothing to hide. From the very beginning, our products have been »Made in the EU«, in the classic sense. As such, we treat both our fellow man and the natural environment in a way that’s ecologically sustainable and ethically responsible. Each step on our supply chain is entirely transparent for you to see—that’s a promise we’re happy to stand by.
