Details about Number 511

The Oxford is a classic British shoe that has been hugely popular since the mid-19th-century, when the students of Oxford College first began wearing it. Said students had grown tired of the ankle-height boots that had previously been all the rage. Shortly thereafter the Oxford spread to elite circles, and has been a staple of classic men’s footwear ever since.

The black quarter-brogue Oxford—for true gentlemen

For its part, the broguing on this shoe can trace its roots back to the Scottish and Irish Highlands. No. 511 features decorative perforation along the shaft edge pieces at the lacing, as well as along the toe cap seam. Created using the supreme shoe production method, this Goodyear-welted quarter-brogue Oxford in black is made from the finest calfskin, fully-dyed black.

No. 511 may be a touch too unconventional for formal business attire. That being said, this black quarter-brogue Oxford is an excellent choice for relatively informal workplaces. It pairs just as well with a suit as it does with jeans.

General information about our formal shoe collection

Goodyear-Welted

Goodyear-Welted

The gold standard when it comes to shoe manufacturing. Goodyear welting is a painstaking process that involves stitching the shaft and outsole to a thin strip of leather. Shoes made this way are extremely stable, durable, breathable, and easy to repair.

Handcrafted

Handcrafted

Mass-produced shoes are glued together on assembly lines. All of our premium, full-leather shoes, on the other hand, are handcrafted to the finest standards of quality. You can see and feel the difference.

Full-Leather Shoes

Full-Leather Shoes

The high quality of these shoes is reflected in their high leather content. Their uppers, lining, insoles, and outsoles are made from the finest leather. They even have leather heels, made by painstakingly stacking thin layers of leather on top of one another.

Construction

Construction

These shoes consist of roughly 65 separate parts. They took about 210 steps to assemble. We rely upon premium materials and traditional production methods to ensure that our footwear is of the absolute highest quality.

Gentleman's Corner

Gentleman's Corner

These shoes come equipped with a so-called "gentleman's corner". This is a small notch cut from the inside corner of the heel. This has a practical purpose—it prevents your trouser leg from catching on your shoe.

Breathable

Breathable

This shoe boasts a high proportion of leather, and has been assembled without the use of adhesive bonding—both of these factors ensure proper air circulation and prevent moisture from penetrating the surface. Dry, well-ventilated feet are healthy feet.
